Trong Hieu, a Vietnamese-German youth won the sixth season of Vietnam Idol, which ended in Ho Chi Minh City on August 2, by getting 71.5 percent of viewers’ votes.
Hieu triumphed over Bich Ngoc to take home a cash prize of VND600 million (US$28,600). He won the hearts of the judges and audiences with his attractive dancing, performing skills and powerful voice.
Trong Hieu, 23, was born in Hanover, Germany. He has a great passion for music and attended several music shows in Germany. He was among the top 25 of the German Idol contest in 2008.
Hieu said that he will to learn to speak Vietnamese fluently for living and working in the country.
Launched in 2007, Vietnam Idol is based on the British reality show Pop Idol and produced by Ho Chi Minh City Television and Vietnam Advertising Company.
