- Usagi is forecasting to be centered from Khanh Hoa to Ba Ria- Vung Tau provinces
At 6pm yesterday, Usagi was located at around 300 kilometers of Phu Quy Island, 290 kilometers of Nha Trang city, 340 kilometers of Phan Thiet city and 440 kilometers of Vung Tau city with its gain wind of 90- 100 kilometers an hour.
Within next 24- 48 hours, it will move the westward at 10- 15 kilometers an hour, and enter the mainland of south- central coastal and southeastern provinces and cities before turning into a tropical low pressure system.
In next 48- 60 hours, the tropical depression is expected to move the west- northwest with its speed of 10 kilometers and a gusty wind of under 40 kilometers an hour.
The south- central and southeastern regions are affirmed as the dangerous zone that Usagi is expected to sweep through.
Because of typhoon circulation in combination with cool air, provinces from Thua Thien- Hue to Binh Thuan, Central Highlands and southern regions will get caught in a high rainfall of 100- 500 mm.
The great concern is that the ninth typhoon will make landfall in the southeastern region including Ho Chi Minh City at the same time of high tide in the areas.
Downpour and high tide resulted in outbreaks of flooding in downstream rivers of Cuu Long, Dong Nai and Sai Gon.

- Actively dealing with natural disaster
Amid capable damages of causing high tide, downpour and flash flood, the Central Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control has established two working groups in the affected localities.
Yesterday morning, the People’s Committee of Khanh Hoa province moved around 280,000 local people, 41,000 fish farms and 9,400 vessels out of dangerous areas.
In Binh Thuan province, the authorities in coordination with relevant agencies and local people have readily prepared for possible upcoming typhoon number 9.
The local Departments of Education and Training announced the closure of schools and will reopen after November 24.
Before of arrival of the hurricane Usagi, the People’s Committee of Ba Ria- Vung Tau province had a meeting with relevant departments and agencies to implement measures against the natural disaster.
As plan, the province will evacuate 158, 534 residents from low-lying places to safe areas.
Currently, the local asks 3,847 vessels to travel near shore to avoid storm.
