The Sunflower Festival organized by Tuoi Tre and the Vietnam Youth Federation is one of activities to commemorate the death of Le Thanh Thuy, a high school girl famous for her long fight against bone cancer, and send support to cancer kid patients.
It drew participation of 6,000 people.
At the event, some people painted sunflowers while others walked to contribute each VND50,000 for cancer kids.
Before the meaningful charitable festival, the organizer had called for blood donation for cancer kid patients and gifted them in hospitals. Hundreds of volunteers worked relentlessly to make products to sell for fund raising.
Benefactors have contributed over VND7 billion ($300,576 ) to the fund for cancer patients. On the occasion, the organizer has given 77 scholarships named “Thuy’s Dream Foundation” each worth VND5 million to good kids with cancer.
