Storm Rumbia moving towards China

According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, storm Rumbia, the third storm on the East Sea this year, is heading towards China.

At 7am on July 1, the tropical storm was located 250 kilometers northeast of Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands with wind gales of 75-88 kph near the eye of the storm.

Rumbia is moving southwestward at 25 kph and will be located northeast of Leizhou Peninsula of China by 7am on July 2. Wind gales will remain unchanged.

The storm will then travel northwestward at 20-25 kph to make landfall in Guangxi Province of China and downgrade into a tropical low pressure system in the following 24 hours. Winds will abate to 39 kph.

As being affected by the storm, the northern part of the East Sea has been rough with strong winds. The northeastern portion of the Gulf of Tonkin adjacent to Leizhou Penisula, will be stirred with thunderstorms from early July 2.
