Peak of flood season in Mekong Delta to arrive in next few days

The Center for National Hydro-meteorological Forecast yesterday reported an ongoing rise of floodwater level following the high tide in the Mekong Delta.

Particularly, the highest flood level at Tan Chau station in Tien River reached 3.46 meters while the water level at Chau Doc station in Hau River raised 3.13 meters over warning level 1.

By September 30, the highest water levels are expected to roughly peak 3.61 meters and 3.28 meters at Tien River’s Tan Chau station and Hau River’s Chau Doc station over alert level 2 respectively. 

As forecast, the peak of this year’s flooding season in the Mekong Delta rivers will fall on October 1-2 and then the water level is forecast to gradually reduce. 

Amid the situation, the functional agencies warned high risks of landslide and large- scale flooding in low-lying areas along riversides and outside dykes.
