The Immigration Department in Ho Chi Minh City claims they have as yet not received any instruction from the concerned authorities to increase the passport registration fee.
Colonel Nguyen Van Anh, head of the department confirmed this to quell the recent rumors that the passport registration fee would increase from its present cost of VND200,000.
The present number of people coming to the department to make or extend their passports has risen by 15 percent since last year.
Even though over 3,000 people visit the department to complete immigration procedures each day, the department still manages to arrange for enough staff to receive and handle documents.
