‘Nock- ten’ typhoon to enter East Sea tonight

The National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Recue yesterday asked the south- central coastal provinces to actively deal with ‘Nock- ten’ tropical typhoon after it is forecast to enter the East Sea tonight.

The strongest wind will gust level 15- 17 near the center. By tomorrow, the supper storm will position at 430 kilometers of Song Tu Tay Island (Southwest Cay) of the Spratly Islands, warned the Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center of Vietnam.

The Central Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center of Japan also predicted that ‘Nock- ten’ typhoon will move the west southwestwards at 15- 20 kilometers.

Amid the powerful operation of the tropical storm circulation, the weather agency asked ministries, funtional agencies and localities need to provide timely information to ship owners and fishermen about the direction of the storm, check reservoir safety and actively release water.

In addition, a cold front is forecast to cover over the northern region starting December 27.
