Heavy rain lasting from the night of August 21 through the morning of August 22 caused flooding in several areas of Lang Son Province, with river and stream levels rising rapidly.
In Ky Lua Ward, the Ky Cung River and Lao Ly Stream rose quickly on the morning of August 22, inundating several residential and low-lying commercial areas, including Ban Nga Market and Gieng Vuong Wholesale Market.
According to the Ky Lua Ward People's Committee, flooding began at several locations at around 4 a.m. At Gieng Vuong Wholesale Market, water exceeded 1 meter in some areas, disrupting the business activities of 1,290 households.
More than 800 vendors were assisted by local authorities in moving their goods to safe locations that morning.
Heavy rain and strong winds continued across Lang Son Province and other parts of the Northeastern region. In addition to areas along the Ky Cung River, flooding, fallen trees and landslides were reported at several other locations, disrupting traffic.
In Ban Ranh Hamlet, Ba Son Commune, authorities helped residents move their belongings to safety. Several households were affected by landslides on the night of August 21, while some were temporarily isolated by fast-flowing water.
On Provincial Road 236 leading to Chi Ma Border Gate, fallen trees blocked several sections. Authorities had been mobilized since the night of August 21 to clear trees, remove landslide debris and restore traffic.
The Lang Son Border Guard Command said that officers and soldiers in border areas had helped residents move rice, crops and other belongings to safety, while also clearing fallen trees, removing landslide debris and reopening roads.
According to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control, 40 households in Lang Son had been evacuated by 11 a.m. on August 22 due to flooding caused by heavy rain.
No deaths or other casualties had been reported from typhoon No. 4 and the ensuing floods.
