A low pressure trough in combination with wind convergence at 1,500-5,000 meters above sea level are expected to trigger medium to heavy downpours and thunderstorms in the Red River Delta and midland of the Northern provinces and cities such as Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh and Nghe An with an average rainfall of 30-70 mm even above 100 mm in some places.
The National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center also issued a rainy warning in the Northern mountainous region and provinces from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien on the large scale until August 23.
