Heat wave hits southeast & central highlands region

The central highlands and southeast provinces including Ho Chi Minh City are suffering hot weather with the highest daytime temperature of 35- 37 degrees Celsius, reported the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center starting March 20.

The temperature in Gia Lai, Kontum and Binh Phuoc provinces was measured at 40, 2 degrees Celsius, 38, 6 degrees Celsius and 38, 5 degrees Celsius respectively. The heat wave will continue to hit the above mentioned regions for the next two to three days.

At present, the serious dry weather and saltwater influx have shouldered over the south central, central highlands and southern region.

By March 21, water level in local rivers of the central and central highlands is forecast to drop sharply.

In the southern region, water level from upstream in the Mekong River will be also affected by rising tide in next ten days. The highest water level at Tan Chau station and Chau Doc station will reach at 1, 25 meters and 1, 35 meters respectively.
