Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee petitioned to the Prime Minister to allow spending VND9,850 billion (US$439.7 million) including interest taken from the government’ investment funding on projects to address the city's flooding problems under the Public-private partnership (PPP) form.
The HCMC Steering Center for Anti-flooding Program said that to speed up the process of drainage and irrigation projects, aiming to fight against flooding, the city proposed using the government’s investment funding to build 6 drainages namely Ben Nghe, Tan Thuan Phu Xuan, Muong Chuoi, Cay Kho and Phu Dinh in districts 1, 7, 8 and Nha Be to control flooding.
The amount of VND9,850 billion (US$439.7 million) would be used to build water reservoirs and 6.97 kilometer long major levees; 68 small sewages and 6.97 kilometer long embankments through districts 1, 4, 7, 8, Binh Tan, Nha Be, and Binh Chanh.
