HCMC leaders attend commemorative ceremony for martyrs in Con Dao Special Zone

A delegation of Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders yesterday paid tribute to martyrs at Con Dao Special Zone on the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 – 2025) and Vietnam’s National Day (September 2, 1945 – 2025).

On the afternoon of August 26, a delegation from the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front, led by Tran Luu Quang, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, offered flowers and incense in memory of the heroic martyrs, revolutionary soldiers and those who sacrificed their lives in Con Dao Special Zone.

Among attendees were Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; along with members of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Standing Committee, leaders of city departments and agencies, and officials from Con Dao Special Zone.

At Hang Duong Cemetery, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang and all attendees extended a moment of silence, laid fresh wreaths and sincerely lit incense to honor the ancestors, heroic martyrs and devoted patriots who have found eternal rest in the hallowed land of Con Dao.

In a solemn atmosphere, they paid deep respect, pledging to promote the heroic, resilient, compassionate and loyal traditions of their predecessors.

After the incense-offering ceremony, the delegation visited and offered incense at the graves of former General Secretary Le Hong Phong; Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces Vu Van Hieu, Vo Thi Sau, Luu Chi Hieu and Le Van Viet; patriot Nguyen An Ninh; and other martyrs resting at Hang Duong Cemetery.

The delegation then proceeded to offer incense at Con Dao Temple. At the venue, Mr. Tran Luu Quang, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, rang nine ceremonial bells, while the delegates respectfully offered incense to beloved President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs and patriots who sacrificed their lives for national independence.

In Con Dao Special Zone, the delegation also paid a visit to Hang Keo Cemetery, observed a moment of silence, laid flowers and offered incense in honor of revolutionary soldiers and patriots who valiantly fought and sacrificed for the communist ideals and the cause of national liberation.
