Cold spell hits Northern Provinces

A new cold mass hits the Northern and North Central Provinces on the afternoon of December 26, and is expected to continue for the next few days, announced the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center.

From the night of December 26, the Gulf of Tonkin will see northeasterly winds of level 6 with gusts upto level 7 and rough seas.

Due to affects of the new cold mass, waters off central coastal and southern provinces will sustain wind speeds of level 6-7 with gusts upto level 8-9 and rough seas, including in Paracel(Hoang Sa)  and Spratly (Truong Sa) Islands.

Moreover, the Northern Provinces will be reeling under cold weather until December 30, and the Central Highlands and Southern Provinces will be shrouded in a thick blanket of fog early mornings.
