Central region seriously damaged because of downpours & flood

At least ten people died, one was missing and three were injured because of heavy rain and flash flood in two central provinces of Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai in the recent days, reported the National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention.

Over 10,160 houses were inundated under floodwaters. The floods damaged 9,782 hectares of rice crops, 2,790 vegetable crops, 713 livestock and 18,086 poultries of the two provinces. Around 30,785 kilometers of interprovincial travelling roads were interrupted by landslide.

Currently, flood level on the river systems from Thua Thien- Hue to Binh Dinh reaches a high record. The weather center warned that the central provinces from Thua Thien- Hue to Khanh Hoa continue suffering one more serious flood and heavy rain from December 5- 9 because of the influence of strong operation of a cold air and turbulence of east wind.

The medium- heavy rains are in the forecast for the central provinces from Thua Thien- Hue to Binh Dinh with the northeast monsoon of level 3- 5.

The National Steering Committee on Natural Disaster Prevention announced the complicated weather to its offices in the central coastal provinces and cities from Thua Thien- Hue to Binh Dinh, and required the localities should collaborate with functional forces to search missing person, help the residents in repairing houses and stabilizing their lives after the natural disaster.
