The southeast province of Binh Phuoc has suffered the prolonged hot weather, causing serious drought in previous days.
There are 66 irrigational works to apply water for 17, 600 hectares of crops; however, water level at the water reservoirs is dropping at 1,5 meters due to lacking of water at local rivers and streams.
At present, 36,000 hectares of plants have been destroyed by extreme drought in the local. Because of the influence of dry weather, around 10, 000 hectares of rice and short- day crops could not be harvested as planned.
Besides, more than 70,000 people living in the border areas have been facing to serious water shortage. Coping with the natural disaster, the People’s Committee of Binh Phuoc province asked the People’s Committee of districts and towns to provide VND eight billion from backup fundings to support people in buying fresh water and water tanks, digging canals and wells.
The Binh Phuoc authority also suggested leaders of Thac Mo, Cau Don and Sork Phu Mieng Hydroelectric Company to allocate water source to locals logically.
