Young people in HCMC join environmental protection activities

In response to the 131st Green Sunday launched by HCMC’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh Youth Communist Union, young dwellers participated in environmental protection activities yesterday.

More than 600 young communist members, volunteers and students from Sai Gon Technology University, Ton Duc Thang University, and Medicine University took the garbage out of Ba Ca canal in District 8 and planted trees around the canal.
Additionally, young people instructed locals in District 8 how to sort out garbage and called on them to say no to plastic bags as well as encouraged dwellers not to throw away litter into the city’s canals.
Furthermore, young people gave out leaflets to popularize the damaging impact of plastic bags and single-used plastic items and presented 1,000 corn starch garbage bags and 100 kilograms of environmental-friendly plastic bags to inhabitants.
In the meantime, young people in other districts of HMC also took part in anti-litter campaign. In Can Gio district, 200 young workers joined in beach cleanup and grew trees around coastal areas.
