The movie and other films, including Vo ba (The Third Wife), Vi (Flavor) and Con culi khong biet khoc (Sloth Monkey Never Cries) were presented at the Vietnam Night on May 20 at the 70th Cannes Film Festival that is scheduled for May 17-28.
The Way Station was honored with the “Best film” Award and also won “Best Actor” for Pham Hong Phuoc and “Best Director of Photography” for People’s Artists Ly Thai Dung at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 in Malaysia in May.
The movie is adapted from writer Do Phuoc Tien’s story titled “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Island of Aliens). The film depicts the confusion and uncertainty of the characters in their journey to look for happiness and the meaning of life.
The film was also screened with Spanish subtitles during Vietnamese movie week in Spain, held in Madrid city, from May 24 and 25. And then it will travel to Australia for the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival (BAPFF) 2017 from November 23-December 4, and to Kazakhstan for the Eurasia International Film Festival 2017 that will take place in Astana from July 22 -28.
