Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, on July 16 welcomed a high-ranking delegation led by Mr. Thongloun Sousilih, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos.
He shared his joy at the friendly cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City, Champasak Province and Vientiane, the capital of Laos.
According to Mr. Thongloun Sousilih, the two regions not only organized activities marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty between the two countries, but also regularly enhanced comprehensive cooperation in various fields including economy, culture and society.
On the same day, Mr. Le Thanh Hai received a high-ranking delegation from Vientiane led by Soukanh Mahalath, Party Secretary and Governor of Vientiane.
Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, welcomed a high-ranking delegation from Champasak Province led by Mr. Sonsay Siphandon, Governor of Champasak Province and member of the Lao Revolutionary People's Party Committee.
Additionally, the third Vietnam-Laos People's Friendship Festival opened in Hanoi on July 16, attended by Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, Mr. Phankham Viphavanh, a Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and Minister of Education and Sports cum President of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association.
Mr. Vu Trong Kim, president of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association (VLFA) and Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee greeted participants of the two countries at the festival. He hoped that the event will give a chance for both people to exchange their experiences in organizing friendship activities in localities.
Mr. Phankham Viphavanh affirmed that it is an opportunity for people of both regions to maintain, strengthen and protect a special solidarity relationship.
The third Vietnam-Laos People's Friendship Festival will run until July 21 in Hanoi, Ninh Binh and Tuyen Quang Provinces.
