The typhoon building up on the East Sea two days ago has moved northwards and gradually dispersed towards mainland China and weakened into a low pressure zone, the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center said Saturday.
However, the weather bureau said a cold front has slammed northern Vietnam and would cause heavy rains Sunday.
Meanwhile, in the central region, the sweltering weather is likely to continue for another one to two days.
The weather in Ho Chi Minh City and other southern areas will remain hot during daytime with temperatures soaring to 30-34 degrees Celsius with mild showers in the afternoons and at night.
