More than 100 beauties around the world will gather at the Vietnamese seaside town of Nha Trang in the central Khanh Hoa province to take part in the Miss Universe 2008 next July, announced the organizers in Ho Chi Minh City yesterday.

The young women will take part in a tour crossing the country to enjoy and promote Viet Nam’s destinations to the world during the event.
It is a great opportunity to introduce Viet Nam to more than one billion TV viewers around the world.
The host country is carrying out much of the preparation work for the event such as building a 7,500-seat theater, 4,000 – 5,000 high-end rooms and upgrading the Cam Ranh Airport and other facilities.
It also has to pay US$15 million for the pageant's hosting rights.
The ceremony for awarding Viet Nam such rights took place yesterday in HCMC, attended by Miss Viet Nam 2006 Mai Phuong Thuy, local leaders and beauties together with Chairwoman of the Miss Universe beauty contest Paula Mary Shugart, Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori, Miss USA 2007 Rachel Smith and Miss Teen USA 2007 Hilary Cruz.
"Viet Nam always holds a deep respect for the past and is directed toward a better life in the future. That’s the reason we choose your country to introduce to the world. And your preparation work for the event is very good” said Chairwoman of the Miss Universe beauty contest Paula Mary Shugart.
“I really want to hand over my crown to a Vietnamese beauty” Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori added.
The contest's final round will be attended by US billionaire Donald Trump at the Diamond Bay Resort in the coastal town.
