The ‘Saigon River Tunnel’ extends from the crossroad junction of Vo Van Kiet Street and Pho Duc Chinh Street in District 1 to the traffic toll booth station in District 2.

The 1,490m tunnel, which opened for traffic on November 20, is the most important structure along the East West Highway. The newly constructed tunnel is the first of its kind to be built under a river in Vietnam and is also one of the most modern hi-tech structures in Southeast Asia.
