According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, the first most damaging cold spell will hit the Northern Provinces, which will later affect the Southern Provinces by end of this year.

Till now the Northern Provinces have been located in the center of a cold air mass while mountainous areas were facing a cold spell.
Air temperatures in Lang Son, Cao Bang Provinces fell to 15 degrees celsius, and in the mountainous areas of Sapa, Mau Son temperatures were below 10 degrees celsius.
Le Thanh Hai , Deputy Director of the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, said that five to seven cold spells will enter North Vietnam and later affect the Southern Provinces. According to weather forecast, the cold spells will occur in January or February 2014, but another cold spell will occur by end of December.
