Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music will cooperate with Washington State University to present a concert with remarkable wind ensemble repertoire, and especially, “Rhapsody in Blue” on December 18.

The works will be performed by the Saigon Wind Ensemble and special guest Dr. Gerald Berthiaume under the baton of conductor – Dr. Danh Pham. This was one of the America’s most prominent works for piano and orchestra which mixed the jazz material in classical music and has also captivated music lovers’ heart all over the world.
Dr. Danh Pham is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Bands at Washington State University. He conducts the Symphonic Wind Ensemble and serves as the Coordinator of Instrumental Music Education within the University’s School of Music. This season, he will be conducting the University of South Carolina Band Clinic and Symphonic Band, the Central District Band Festival Honor Band (Honolulu, Hawaii) and serve as conductor-in-residence with the University of Hawaii Symphonic Band.
Dr. Gerald Berthiaume is a professor of music at Washington State University and served as Director of the School of Music of the university from 2003 to 2011. Berthiaume has performed throughout the United States, in Germany, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Ukraine. In 1993, he was a winner in the USIA “Artistic Ambassador Competition” at Stanford University.
The concert themed “Season’s Greetings” will begin at 7.30 p.m. at the HCMC Conservatory of Music.
