The steering board for a coordination program to promote the role of religions in protecting the environment and responding to climate change and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee yesterday held a meeting to review the program results in Ho Chi Minh City.
The steering board’s report said the board, the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and experts from European organization have made survey of religions in protecting environment and responding to climate changes.
The environmental protection program has been included into the program “Residents participate in environmental protection” which has helped 14 religions in localities to build models of environmental protection and climate changes.
Religious organizations actively have launched environmental protection activities in residential quarters where followers live as well as increased information to increase their awareness of protecting environment.
Additionally, religions encouraged followers to take part in movements such as “Action month for environment”, “People join hand in building new countryside and civilized urban“, and such.
Meeting participants arrived at the five goals the steering board set up in 2018 including implementation of environmental protection models with climate change adaptions in regions followers live.
Moreover, localities should laud exemplary people and models in protecting environment and responding to climate changes.
