Record high tide to cause flood in city

According to the Southern Regional Hydro Meteorological Center, the flood tide in HCM City will reach a peak of 1.5m at the Phu An Station on Saigon River around 7pm on October 25.

The flood tide doubled with heavy rain brought by Typhoon Megi will cause havoc in many inner-city and suburban areas. A series of dykes in in Binh Thanh, Thu Duc, Go Vap, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi and District 12 is at risk of damage. So many streets will be submerged by water.

The HCMC Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control ordered local authorities to check dykes along river and canal banks.

A high flood tide and heavy rain have caused flooding in many areas in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.

The National Hydrometeorological Forecast Center said that a cold air mass coming from southern China has entered the northern region. Temperature decreases by about 5-7oC, average temperature is 17-24oC. The weather becomes so cold.

The central and southern central regions will see warm sunshine in the beginning of this week and heavy rain at the weekend.
