Ports make year’s first shipments

Quang Ninh Port Ltd. Co. welcomed the New Year with export shipments of 30,000 tons of iron ore and 20,000 tons of wood shavings at Cai Lan port in the northern province of Quang Ninh.

Also on January 1 Cua Ong Coal Sorting Company shipped 15,400 tons of 9A coal dust to Japanese company Sumitomo from another port in the same province, Cam Pha.
 
Cua Ong also shipped 3,100 tons of 3C coal dust for Tay Ninh Cement Plant from the port.
 
Cua Lo Port in Nghe An Province received 11 vessels with 27,000 tons of cargo on the first day of the year.  The port is expected to handle 1,000 vessels and 1.3 million tons of cargo this year.
 
The Hai Phong Port Company has received its first consignment of cargo for export, and is set to handle 15.5 million tons during the year.
 
The general director of Ho Chi Minh City’s Sai Gon Port, Le Cong Minh, issued orders to load the first consignment of cargo on New Year’s Day.

The port plans to put into operation new ports in Hiep Phuoc (in HCMC) and Cai Mep-Thi Vai (Ba Ria-Vung Tau) and become a holding company.

In 2009 it handled more than 14 million tons of cargo, a year-on-year rise of 7 percent, and achieved revenues of more than VND1 trillion (US$52,531 million).
