'Mirinea’ typhoon weakens into tropical low pressure

After Mirinea typhoon weakened into a tropical low pressure at 3 am today, it brought prolonged medium- heavy rain and powerful wind to  northern delta provinces and cities such as Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh and Hanoi, reported the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

The strongest wind in the center gusted level 6- 10 while the highest rainfall was measured at 126- 186 mm.

As the latest weather news from the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center, it was centered at 20, 6 degrees north latitude and 105, 7 degrees east longitude towards the mainland of the northern delta provinces this morning.

Because of the influence of the storm circulation, some areas in Hanoi suffered medium- heavy rains and flood tide on the large scale.

The powerful wind and thunderstorm not only blew up trees and panels on Le Van Luong, Nguyen Trai, Hoang Ngan, Hoang Dao Thuy and Lang Ha Streets but also caused electricity power cut in Hanoi on the large scale.

According to initial statistics of functional agencies, 700 trees were uprooted by thunderstorm and strong wind causing traffic congestion in Hanoi.

By 9 am today, many companies and industrial parks in Hanoi had to stop working because employees could not go to work.
