A two hour heavy downpour concurrently with high tide caused severe flooding of several streets in Ho Chi Minh City on Thursday.

Huynh Tan Phat Street in District 7, Ngo Tat To Street in Binh Thanh District, Luong Dinh Cua in District 2 and Nguyen Tat Thanh in District 4 were inundated under 30-40cm of floodwater.
Huynh Tan Phat Street was badly affected with some sections under up to half a meter of water. Traffic became more chaotic when a slew of vehicles broke down in the middle of the flooded street. The floodwater even overflowed into houses and shops both sides of the street.
