The meeting aims to collect critical comments and proposals of young civil servants, public employees, and researchers to perfect policies in accordance with Decision No.217 by the Politburo about the Regulation on social supervision and criticism of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations.
It is also a chance to comment on achieved results and propagandize critical content of the program to reduce environment pollution in HCMC in the 2020-2030 period to members of the Communist Youth Union so that they can cooperate for practical solutions to overcome obstacles when implementing this program.
HCMC is now witnessing a fast economic development speed. It has 18 industrial parks, accommodating 1,300 factories, plus over 3,000 manufacturing facilities outside these parks. Along with such a quick growth of the city’s population, these production plants have significantly contributed to making the environment pollution here worse.
The Communist Youth Union of HIDS proposed that it is necessary to promote the solid waste recycling industry for sustainable development in HCMC. There should be policies to support the launch of recycled products in the market. The establishment and then expansion of the public-private partnership model in plastic waste management in HCMC is also a rational measure.
Meeting participants discussed the methods to communicate environment protection and responses to climate change to the community; to implement household solid waste classification at source.
The important role of members of the Communist Youth Union in carrying out the program to reduce environment pollution in HCMC is mentioned, especially related to devising feasible initiatives for the propaganda task to the youth.
