HCMC People’s Council’s 19th session to resolve matters thoroughly

With the opening of the HCM City People’s Council’s 19th session on December 7, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council resolved some matters upon a report from the city’s People’s Committee.

Some of the issues discussed included: workforce plan in state-owned organizations and agencies; ferry and transportation fees at Thu Thiem, Cat Lai, Binh Khanh, new roads for the city; appropriate bonus for collaborators on family planning and policies for post drug users; administrative boundary adjustment, staffing at the Department of Labor Invalids and Social Affairs and volunteering work-force.

The city’s People’s Committee reported matters at the session including socioeconomic development plan, investment circumstances, and the construction of recreational facilities for children. This was for the period for 2011-2015.

The Department of Transport was expected to give answers to problems concerning construction quality and progress, traffic gridlock, sinkhole problems on the roads and public transport issues.

The deputies asked the Department of Education and Training if there were any matters relating to education quality, the control of day care nurseries and at private houses. Police also informed the committee about illegal motorbike racing along certain roads and further crime prevention programs.

According to a report of the city’s People’s Committee, HCMC achieved gross domestic product (GDP) over VND4 trillion with the growth rate of at least 11.5percent by the end of this year, an increase of 15 percent compared to the set target; turnover of retail goods and services over VND3 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 27.3 percent, turnover of export and tourism around VND20,835 million and VND41 trillion respectively.

The city People’s Council’s 19th session began on the December 7 and finishes on the December 10.
