HCMC and Cuba sign MoU about science and technology cooperation

The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of the Republic of Cuba yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on development and management of high-tech parks and industrial parks.

Chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said that the cooperation showed  the city's determination for readily sharing its experiences with the partner to develop the economic model under the new constitution of the 11th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, and to lay the foundation for promoting future cooperation projects between the two sides. 

According to Minister of Science, Technology and Environment Ms. Elba Rosa Perez Montoya, Cuba is implementing a long-term socio-economic development plan by 2030 in association with sustainable development. Thus, the country approved policies to promote the development of science, technology and innovation.

As this reason, Cuba wants to learn experiences of developing and luring foreign investment of Vietnam, and to promote cooperation with Ho Chi Minh City in all fields, including technology.

On the occasion, the delegation visited Saigon High- Tech Park in District 9 and desired cooperation with the park .

The partner sent an invitation for the opening ceremony of Cuba's first science and technology zone to HCMC leaders.
