The capital club became the new V-League champions in the 25th round at Hang Day Stadium in Hanoi with 46 points, four points clear of second-placed Hai Phong, who beat Nam Dinh 2-0 at Hue City’s Tu Do Stadium to reinforce their second position.

Both Hanoi T&T and Navibank Saigon created scoring chances but none were converted.

So far in this season, the new champions earned 14 wins, four draws and seven losses.

Hanoi T&T coach Phan Thanh Hung said solidarity and decision-making were two leading factors in their success.

In the first division, Hanoi ACB defeated Tay Ninh 3-1 also in the penultimate round Saturday, taking berth in the premier V-League next season. Quang Ninh Coal, Binh Dinh, An Giang and Quang Nam will compete for the second promotion ticket in the final round this week.

Hanoi ACB became the first-division champions with 44 points, four points ahead of second-placed Quang Ninh Coal.
