Thousands of students will sit for the first phase of the University Entrance Exams on July 3 and 4, at which time the weather is expected to remain unpredictable and erratic all across the country.
Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta will remain hot and sunny in the mornings but rainy during the afternoons.
The Central Provinces from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai will see the highest temperatures from 35-36 degrees celsius, which may rise to 37-38 degrees on July 5.
Hanoi and the northern region will also remain sunny in daytime, while showers and thunderstorms will occur by late afternoon. Temperatures will increase to 35-37 degrees celsius.
According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, tropical storm ‘Rumbia’ has moved to Guangxi Province in China and already weakened.
The storm has however affected the northern region of Vietnam, bringing in medium to heavy rainfall over the last two days, which may continue in some places till July 3.
The Mountainous Provinces of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Lao Cai have been warned against flashfloods and landslides.
The Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention in Ha Giang Province said that heavy rainfall has damaged 22 houses in Yen Minh District, where several roads are now congested from landslides.
Severe landslides also occurred along 4D Highway from Lao Cai to Lai Chau Province, causing heavy traffic jams.
About 20,000 cubic meters of mud and stone debris fell on the road in Tam Duong District in Lai Chau Province. The provincial Department of Transport has mobilized five bulldozers to remove the fallen debris, but this will take at least three more days to clear and for traffic to resume.
