In the early morning, water level on Hau River at Can Tho Station suddenly rised by 20- 40 cm causing serious flooding in some streets of Huynh Cuong, Nguyen Van Troi and Cao Thang.
It is considered as an unusual change in Can Tho city because the high tides often end in the eleventh month of the lunar calendar.
Meanwhile, the salt water influx extending from rivers of Cua Dai, Co Chien and Ham Luong to 40-50 kilometers early hits Ben Tre province and the Mekong Delta region.
Amid the changeable climate condition, the People’s Committee of Ben Tre province asked local authorities and people to actively conserve fresh water resources and adopt emergency measures to prevent the salt water influx.
