Thongloun Sousilih, Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on July 14 to attend the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos, and the 35th anniversary of the signing of the Friendship Treaty between the two countries.
Mr. Le Hoang Quan, Chairman of the HCMC People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Van Dua, Deputy Secretary of the HCMC Party Committee along with many leaders of the City Party and People's Committee cordially welcomed the Lao delegation.
According to the agenda for the next few days in the City, the delegation of Lao senior officials will attend activities such as a conference to promote investments in Vietnam and Laos; an exhibition and ceremony to award state medals on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Laos; and a special art program themed “Passionate Vietnam-Laos".
Also on this occasion, a 50 episode TV film series "Recording for Laos", co-produced by the Ethnic Minorities National Television (VTV5) and Radio and Television Station of Nghe An will be broadcast on VTV1. These series contain vivid expressions of the strong ties between Vietnam and Laos.
TV viewers will enjoy viewing the landscape, customs and special festivals of Laos, and the historic site of Sieng Vang, a small village located about 30km from Kham Muon, where late President Ho Chi Minh had crossed over to build a revolutionary base.
Viewers will also get to see the province of Savannakhet, a geographical site closely connected with the revolutionaries of Laos, Vietnam, and Champasak, where the largest Vietnamese community of 5,000 people lives.
The friendly relations and economic cooperation for mutual development in Vietnam and Laos are also reflected in the collaborative models of the Vietnam-Laos Rubber Joint Stock Company; Vietnam-Laos hydropower project Sekaman 1; and the Rice Research Center Thasano in Savannakhet Province.
In these TV episodes, viewers will see the achievements jointly built by companies, big business corporations and people of both countries.
"Recording for Laos" will be broadcast at 23:30 hour from Monday to Friday on VTV1.
