Large cracks have appeared on the HCMC – Trung Luong Highway.
The road linking Tan Tao - Diem Bridge to the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Highway is showing visible signs of sinking in places, with large cracks appearing all along its surface.
SGGP reporters said that cracks have appeared on the surface of the road from Chua River to Kenh No.1 Bridge, from Kenh No.6 Bridge to An Lac – Le Minh Xuan turning and from Kenh No.10 Bridge to Nguyen Cuu Phu – Tan Nhut turning.
Some cracks are nearly one kilometre long and 3-4 centimetres wide. Several parts of Kenh No.7 and Kenh No 9 bridges and the tunnel linking Kenh No.7 Bridge and Phu My Aqueduct have also sunk in.
The Ho Chi Minh City – Trung Luong Highway has been open to traffic since February 3 last year. However, in just a short period, potholes appeared all along the road.
By the middle of February this year, the State Council for Construction did a recheck and reopened the road for traffic.
