The National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center announced that a cold spell, which is currently moving southwards, will affect northern provinces before hitting north central coast and central coast regions on December 21.
Due to an intense cold front, northern provinces will continue to have clear skies and bright sunshine. Some north central coast and central coast provinces will have rainfalls. Northeasterly winds will strengthen to level 2-3 in the mainland, and to level 3-4 in coastal areas.
The Gulf of Tonkin will experience northeasterly winds of level 6 with gusts up to level 7 and rough sea. Strong winds will maintain at maximum speed of level 6-7 with gusts of level 8-9 in waters of central coast and southern provinces and in the East Sea, including Hoang Sa and Truong Sa Islands.
Northern provinces will continue to face cold weather and low temperatures in the next three to five days while mountainous areas should be cautious of ice and hoar frost.
