A cold front moving southwards is likely to cause heavy rains, flooding and strong winds in the Northern and Central regions by tomorrow morning.
According to the National Hydro Meteorological Forecasting Center, the Northern region will experience extreme cold, rainy weather and some thunderstorms. In the Gulf of Tonkin, wind gales will exceed levels 6-7 blowing at 39-61 kilometers an hour.
Waters along the central coast, the north and mid areas of the East Sea are expected to be rough with gust winds of level 9-10 blowing at 75-102 kilometers an hour.
Northern and Northern Central provinces will face extreme cold conditions in the mountainous areas.
Yesterday, the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention sent dispatches to coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Khanh Hoa, the Ministry of National Defense and other relevant ministries asking them to ensure safety of people and boats out at sea, especially in tourists destinations of Ha Long and Cat Ba in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces.
They have been asked to ban boats from going out to sea and inform those still at sea to return to the mainland or seek shelter immediately.
