City prohibits vehicles in center on New Year Day

The HCMC Department of Transport has announced to prohibit vehicles from traveling to the city center on the night of December 31 to facilitate New Year celebrations.

According to the annoucement, from 6:00 p.m. of December 31 to 0:30 a.m. of January 1, 2011 , vehicles are not allowed to travel on parts of main central streets such as Nguyen Hue, Le Loi, Nguyen Thiep, Ton That Hiep, Huynh Thuc Khang and Dong Khoi. Residents living in the areas will follow instructions of traffic police officers.

The city will also hold artistic lighting art performances at Sunwah and Palace high-rise buildings as well as outdoor music stages on Nguyen Hue Street.
