The Hydrological and Meteorological Forecast Center announced on February 17 that an additional cold front will sweep the northern and central provinces causing rain and thunderstorms starting February 18.

The areas will experience extremely heavy showers in the evening due to strong gales in the west colliding with the cold front.

The temperature in the Northern provinces will drop to 5- 7 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Mau Son, Sa Pa Mountain District also will reduce to 2- 4 degrees Celsius.

The Gulf of Tonkin will experience level 6-7 wind speeds with level 8-9 gusts and extremely rough seas in the evening of February 18.

Territorial waters of the central provinces and Paracel Islands will experience level 6 wind speeds with level 7-8 gusts and extremely rough seas.

The territorial waters from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau Province will also experience stronger winds starting in the evening of February 19.

There have been a reported number of cattle deaths in the Sa Pa District, Lao Cai Province due to temperature drops during the previous week.
