The 2015 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games opening ceremony took place at the National Stadium in Singapore Sports Hub on June 5, with the participation of 4,000 athletes from the 11 participating Southeast Asian nations.
The colorful opening ceremony was launched with impressive art performances, highlighting cultural beauty of Singapore.
The 28th Southeast Asian Games warmed up the crowd by Lion Nila appearance in the national stadium before parade of 4,000 athletes from the 11 participating countries led by Brunei team.
Nila is the official mascot for the 28th SEA Games, which also is a symbol of friendship, solidarity of the Southeast Asian countries.
The torchlight procession of Singaporean football legend, Fandi Ahmad and his son, footballer Irfan Fandi at Stadium Roar near the National Stadium closed the opening ceremony yesterday.
This year's competition attracted 11 countries including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Timor Leste, Myanmar, Vietnam and also host country- Singapore.
This is the fourth time that Singapore hosted the Southeast Asian Games after 1973, 1983 and 1993.
