Vietnam’s benchmark VN-Index extended its winning streak to three consecutive trading sessions on March 2 as investors continued raking shares on strong belief of further uptrend.
The measure of 303 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange strengthened 2.72 per cent, or 11.65 points, to close at 439.6 points with 207 winners, 64 losers, and 37 stocks remaining unchanged.
Around 81.74 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.24 trillion.
Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MBB) was most active share in volume for eight consecutive trading sessions with 14.08 million shares changing hands.
The fifth largest listed lender Vietnam Commercial Joint Stock Export Import Bank or Eximbank (EIB) followed with 5.37 million shares.
Saigon Thuong Tin Joint Stock Commercial Bank or Sacombank (STB) tagged along with 2.95 million shares traded.
Viky Plastic Joint Stock Company (VKP) sprang 16.67 per cent to close at VND700.
Cadovimex Seafood Import-Export & Processing Joint Stock Company (CAD) curbed its four-day losing streak, reviving 14.29 per cent to close at VND800.
Basa Joint Stock Company (BAS) shot up 11.11 per cent to close at VND1,000.
Dam Sen Water Park Corporation (DSN) dropped 5.06 per cent to close at VND30,000.
Viet Thang Feed Joint Stock Company (VTF) sank 5 per cent to close at VND22,800.
Savimex Corporation (SAV) trimmed 4.94 per cent to close at VND15,400.
The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange - hiked 12.53 points, or 2.55 per cent, to end at 503.54. Among its 30 members, 24 stocks rallied, 2 declined and 4 closed unmoved.
Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rocketed 3.08 per cent, or 2.14 points, to close at 71.72 points with 247 winners, 64 losers, and 48 stocks stalled. Around 73.83 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND704.29 billion.
Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares soared 0.72 per cent, or 0.25 points, to 34.87 points at 11.30 am local time. A total of 345,300 shares changed hands at VND2.18 billion.
