The measure of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange slid 0.29 per cent, or 1.36 points, to close at 465.72 points.

Across the benchmark, 110 stocks advanced, 132 retreated, while 68 remained unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse fell by 26 per cent in volume and nearly 25 per cent in value over the previous trading session as 106.58 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND1.76 trillion.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) was the most active share in volume with 4.81 million shares changing hands.

Saigon Securities Inc. (SSI) followed with 3.35 million shares.

Na Ri Hamico Mineral Joint Stock Company (KSS) tagged along with 3.01 million shares traded.

Bien Hoa Sugar Joint Stock Company (BHS), Hoang Quan Consulting - Trading - Service Real Estate Corporation (HQC), and Vietnam Mechanization Electrification & Construction Joint Stock Company (MCG) all demolished 5 per cent to close at VND20,900, VND5,700, and VND7,600.

Thu Duc Housing Development Corporation (TDH) blew away 4.95 per cent to close at VND17,300.

Sao Vang Rubber Joint Stock Company (SRC) snapped its eleven-day losing run, weakening 4.93 per cent to close at VND13,500.

Phuoc Hoa Rubber Joint Stock Company (PHR) jumped 5 per cent to close at VND29,400.

Ho Chi Minh City Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (CII) regained 4.97 per cent to close at VND35,900.

Ben Thanh Rubber Joint Stock Company (BRC) climbed 4.92 per cent to close at VND12,800.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – inched up 0.06 points, or 0.01 per cent, to end at 533.74. Among its 30 members, 9 stocks gained, 13 retreated, and 8 remained unmoved.

Meanwhile, Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rose 0.32 per cent, or 0.25 points, to close at 77.75 points with 142 winners, 115 losers, and 72 stocks treaded water. More than 80.31 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND876.91 billion.

UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares shed 0.03 per cent, or 0.01 points, to close at 35.06 points. A total of 133,780 shares changed hands at VND1.14 billion.
