According to the National Statistics Department, the number of international tourists to Vietnam in the first eight months reached around 5.5 million, up 12.2 percent compared to the same period last year.
Tourists visiting Vietnam for travel and recreation reached nearly 3.3 million, while 919,000 arrivals came to Vietnam for business purposes, and 941,000 arrivals arrived in Vietnam to visit relatives.
The country saw a sharp increase in tourist arrivals from countries and territories worldwide over the same period last year, counting from the beginning of this year to date.
