During the first quarter of 2012, Vietnam reported a high growth in exports to major markets in Africa, mainly South Africa, Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, Nigeria and Angola, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Among Vietnam’s main exports to Africa are rice, coffee, computers, electronic items and accessories, telephones, vehicle spare parts, machinery, garments and footwear.
Vietnam Customs statistics show that the total export turnover to Africa reached US$3.5 billion in 2011, up 97 per cent year-on-year, while the total import turnover from Africa topped $1.24 billion, up 62 per cent year-on-year.
