Uninterrupted earthquakes occur in Thua Thien- Hue province

An earthquake measuring 2, 6 on the Richter scale occurred in the area of Huong Tra town, A Luoi mountainous district, Thua Thien Hue province at the mid- night of December 12, reported the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Center yesterday.

The earthquake was positioned at 16, 279 degrees north latitude and 107, 500 degrees east longitude with its epicenter location at 39 kilometers deep underground.
 
Earlier, two earthquakes measuring 2, 5 and 2, 7 on the Richter scale threatened respectively in the area of A Luoi mountain district and Huong Tra town in Thua Thien Hue on December 7.
 
A total of 11 earthquakes have experienced in the area of A Luoi district and Huong Tra town since May 2014.
 
Vice Standing Office of the Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue of Thua Thien- Hue province Dang Van Hoa said: “Most of earthquakes had experienced in the areas which did not cause much damage to local residents’ properties. The People’s Committee of Thua Thien- Hue requested the Ministry of Science and Technology to evaluate damages by the earthquakes and publicize timely information on earthquakes to inhabitants”.
 
"The People’s Committee of Thua Thien- Hue province also suggested the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue needs to collaborate closely with relevant agencies to provide information and training inhabitants to cope with earthquake disaster", added Mr. Dang Van Hoa.
