The Ministry of Transport yesterday said it had proposed the Government to permit pilot implementation of a project on e-management and connectivity to passenger transport by automobiles, developed by GraxTaxi Vietnam (Grabcar).
According to the project, the pilot implementation will be carried out at firms licensed to transport passengers by automobiles on contracts in five cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Khanh Hoa.
Passengers will download Grabcar application to their smart phones and register accounts to book vehicles.
Grabcar will finance the pilot project from 2015 to 2018, subsequently the Ministry of Transport will work with authorized agencies to estimate its results and propose measure to fully work out a policy for passenger transport by automobiles.
