The delegation distributed 300 gifts to poor households, near-poor households, and people with particularly difficult circumstances in Thanh An island commune ensuring that even the most disadvantaged families can welcome the Lunar New Year with warmth and dignity.
On February 12, Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, representing the City Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, visited and presented gifts to poor households, near-poor households, people with particularly difficult circumstances, and households with sudden difficulties in Thanh An Commune on the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026.
These gifts were taken from the Central Fund for the Poor. Each gift was worth VND2.3 million including VND2 million in cash and gifts worth VND300,000.
Holding the gift bag in her hand, resident Ly Thi Kim Vang in Thanh An Commune could not hide her emotion. Her family is in difficult circumstances, and her husband has to work far away. She stays at home selling lottery tickets, earning a living while taking care of her two children who are at school age.
Tran Minh Luan, a 9th-grade student, shared that his parents work as factory workers far away, only visiting the three siblings once a month. Holding a bag of Tet gifts in his hand, Luan said he would take them home for a warm Tet celebration, and save the money to buy more school supplies.
Mrs. Vo Thi Hoa, a resident of Thanh An Commune, shared that while her four sons earn their living at sea, she remains at home selling snacks to students. For her and many island families, the Tet gifts symbolize not only material support but also the “warmth and affection” extended by the community and city leaders.
She expressed her gratitude to the Party and State leaders and the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for their care and attention, ensuring that every family in the island commune has a warm and peaceful Tet.
