Strong cold covers northern region

The current temperature is dropping sharply in the northern provinces of Vietnam, reported the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

Particularly, the daytime temperature in the northern mountain provinces like Son La, Lao Cai and Ha Giang reached at 9- 10 degrees Celsius. In Sa Pa Tourism Area, uninterrupted frost and winter rains shouldered over O Quy Ho mountain pass and Sa Pa district’s mountain communes.

Because thick ice and snow appeared in the areas of O Quy Ho mountain pass and Ta Giang Phinh commune with its maximum temperature of 6- 7 degrees Celsius, local authorities instructed local schools to allow students absence.

According to weather forecast, the damaged cold is going to experience in next 2- 3 days.

By December 17, cold weather covered some places of the south central region. Because of the influence of the cold front, the weather in Ho Chi Minh City will see thick fog in the evening within next days. The lowest temperature in the area reaches at 22- 23 degrees Celsius.

In the related weather news, ‘Melor’ typhoon yesterday weakened into a low pressure zone in East Sea, added the National Hydrology Meteorology Forecast Center.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development consented with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) about plan of inter- hydroelectric reservoir regulation of Son La, Hoa Binh, Thac Ba and Tuyen Quang for winter-spring rice harvest in the period of 2015- 2016 in Northern midland and delta.
