Stocks rise amid hesitation

The measure of 305 companies and five mutual funds listed on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange surged 0.74 per cent, or 3.29 points, to close at 450.73 points, with 183 gainers, 69 losers, and 58 stocks remaining unchanged.

Trading on the city bourse dropped by 27.28 per cent in volume, and 36.76 per cent in value over the previous trading session as 66.3 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND909.82 billion.

Tan Tao Investment & Technology Joint Stock Company (ITA) won the first place in the race for the spot of most active share in volume with 3.73 million shares changing hands.

Sacom Development & Investment Corporation (SAM) was the runner-up with 3.51 million shares.

Becamex Infrastructure Development Investment Joint Stock Company (IJC) tagged along with 3.06 million shares traded.

Electronics Communications Technology Investment Development Corporation (ELC) and Southern Rubber Industry Joint Stock Company (CSM) both gained 5 per cent to close at VND33,600 and VND14,700 respectively.

Binh Thuan Hamico Mineral Joint Stock Company (KSA) soared for three consecutive trading sessions, closing 4.96 per cent at VND12,700.

Kinh Bac City Development Share Holding Corporation (KBC) moved forward 4.93 per cent to close at VND14,900.

Nam Viet Joint Stock Company (NAV) tumbled 4.48 per cent to close at VND6,400.

Transforwarding Warehousing Corporation Ho Chi Minh City (TMS) pared 4.41 per cent to close at VND26,000.

Godaco Seafood Joint Stock Company (AGD) weakened 4.09 per cent to close at VND35,200.

The VN30 Index - a free-float adjusted, market cap-weighted index of 30 stocks with the highest market value and liquidity on the exchange – fortified 4.13 points, or 0.81 per cent, to end at 515.64. Among its 30 members, 22 stocks climbed, 3 retreated and 5 remained unmoved.

Hanoi’s HNX-Index of the smaller bourse in the north rebounded 2.13 per cent, or 1.59 points, to close at 76.28 points, with 215 winners, 53 losers, and 63 stocks treading water. More than 70.2 million shares changed hands at a total value of VND707.21 billion.

Meanwhile, the UPCoM-Index of unlisted shares edged up 0.11 per cent, or 0.04 points, to close at 34.89 points. A total of 298,630 shares changed hands at VND1.94 billion.
